The Bay Bed Company began with a simple idea: offer genuinely good quality beds and mattresses, give honest advice and provide the kind of customer service that's becoming increasingly difficult to find.
We opened our first showroom in Morecambe in 2010 and, thanks to the support of our customers, have steadily grown into one of the North West's best-known independent bed and mattress retailers. In 2023 we were delighted to open our second showroom in the heart of Lancaster, allowing even more people to experience our carefully chosen collection of beds and mattresses.
Although we've grown over the years, our approach hasn't changed. We're still a local, family-run business that believes buying a new mattress should never feel rushed or confusing. We take the time to understand how you sleep, explain the differences between the options available and help you choose the mattress that's right for you.
Alongside carefully selected brands, we continue to offer free local delivery and free recycling of your old bed or mattress, making the whole process as straightforward as possible from the moment you visit us to the day your new bed is delivered.

One of the questions we're often asked is, "How do you decide which mattresses to stock?"
The answer is simple. We don't try to offer hundreds of different mattresses. Instead, we carefully choose every product that's displayed in our showrooms because we genuinely believe it offers excellent comfort, quality and value for money.
Over the last 16 years we've built a great deal of knowledge about beds and mattresses, not just by selling them, but by taking the time to understand how they're made. We've visited many of the British manufacturers we work with, including Harrison Spinks in Yorkshire and Burgess Beds here in Lancashire, giving us the opportunity to see first-hand the craftsmanship, materials and attention to detail that go into every mattress.
Those visits have helped us build a collection that we're proud to recommend. Rather than overwhelming customers with endless choice, we've selected a range that offers something for almost every style of sleeper, whether you're looking for your first pocket sprung mattress or investing in a luxury handcrafted bed.

Looking Ahead
In 2025 we launched our new website with a simple goal: to bring more of the showroom experience online.
We wanted the website to be more than just a place to browse products. We wanted it to become a useful source of advice and information, helping customers learn about mattresses, compare different options and make informed decisions before visiting one of our showrooms.
As our business continues to grow, our commitment remains exactly the same as it was when we opened our doors in 2010: offer quality products at fair prices, provide honest advice and deliver the highest level of customer service possible.
